Sharifah Mazlina, our national hero

Our very own national explorer, Datin Paduka Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abdul Kadir will leave for Chile this 4th April for her solo expedition to North Pole. Way to go Mak Cik….

A controversy erupted recently over her intention to bury an Al Quran in North Pole (for whatever noble cause she had…beats me!). Though she claimed the intent was well endorsed by several learned clerics that she consulted, Dr Mohd Asri had this to say “Kenapa al-Quran mahu ditanam? Perbuatan seperti itu tidak ada nilainya  ….. perbuatan itu menyalahi maksud sebenar al-Quran diturunkan kepada umat Islam …… Al-Quran diturunkan kepada umat Islam untuk dibaca dan dijadikan panduan dalam kehidupan, bukan untuk ditanam.”

Pretty straight forward answer would you think..I myself is short of understanding her real intention. If burying the Quran signifies the achievement of Islam in this quest, I mean, common, this is not a caveman era, where you have mark the spot you have been.
