Borat is everywhere…so just who the heck is he actually
I’ve heard of him on TV, news, radio and almost everywhere, but have not a single idea of who is he actually. This morning, I googled just to find out.
He is Sacha Baron Cohen presenting himself as the backward Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev. Why he’s doing that, well I don’t know, it is just another way of promoting yourself, I guess. And it works, he has now received one hell of a publicity, according to information that I gathered, some countries were having press conferences on him.” (Kazakhstan’s deputy foreign minister, Rakhat Aliyev, recently extended an invitation to Borat to find out what the country is really like.)
“Baron Cohen’s character was first developed for “Da Ali G Show” (carried in the U.S. on HBO) in which Borat was one of three characters along with mock-rapper Ali G and gay Austrian fashion reporter Bruno. The 35-year-old actor is planning to follow “Borat” with “Bruno.” On the commentary track to the DVDs for the first season of “Da Ali G Show” Baron Cohen offered insight into the creation of Borat, who he said was influenced by someone he met in Southern Russia. “I can’t remember his name… he was a doctor,” Baron Cohen said. “The moment I met him, I was totally crying. He was a hysterically funny guy, albeit totally unintentionally.”
Check out his film “Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.” And what do you know, he is so popular that one goon all the way from turkey is claiming this:-
Mahir Cagri, who is Turkish, says the title character in “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” is based on a real person — him, and that he wants a piece of the film’s success. The freelance journalist became something of an online cult figure through his hilarious personal Web site ikissyou.com which was named among PC Magazine’s 25 worst Web sites in 2005. That domain name has passed to another site, although some hilarious remnants are still adrift on the Internet at the link below. The visitor counter tops 1.2 million. As Cagri describes himself: “My profession journalist, music and sport teacher. … I like to take foto-camera (amimals, towns, nice nude models and peoples). … My tall 1.84 cm (6.2 feet). My weight 78 kg. My eyes green … I live alone !!!!!!!!!” Cagri alleges that “Borat” creator Sacha Baron Cohen drew inspiration for his over-the-top character from his Web site, and told The Associated Press that he’s seeking an acknowledgment for his contributions and considering legal action.
