18th Arabian Gulf Cup went to UAE
UAE beat Oman 1-0 at the final 2007 Gulf Cup. UAE won the Gulf Cup for the first time since the championship kicked off over 30 years ago. O well….
You know, I’d been thinking, when we talk about motivation, you can just forget these Stephen Covey, Dan Millman, Alvin Law, Deepak Chopra or other so called motivational gurus. Because these
goons gurus write books or talk craps give after dinner speeches on ways and theories to motivate or inspire people on the supposition that we are all living in a fairy world with perfect surroundings. Fact is, in a real world, we have to be realistic in inspiring people. In a real world, I am sure they all know damn well that the only way to motivate human being is to toss them with lots of money!
To me, why bother with all these theory craps written over 500 pages or even attending one of those 2-day seminars that’d normally cost a participant a fortune. I mean, have you read any book written by any one of these gurus??? The writers and publishers are actually robbing money legitimately from bunch of low esteemed people out there who fail naively to understand the concept of “Money is not everything but the ONLY thing”
Just to give you a run down of what the UAE players are raking from wining the cup – The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced a bonus of Dh500,000 for each member of the UAE football team – damn that’s lot of money. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has granted a villa each to the members of the UAE soccer team. The Federal Government has also decided to double the budget of the UAE Football Association in appreciation of their good performance. All these dollars and cents do not include other special bonuses announced earlier following a streak of wins the team registered against Kuwait and Saudi Arabia before crowning it with a win against Oman at the magnificent Zayed Sports City stadium. The President also directed that special bonuses be paid to members of the technical and administrative bench of the national team, as well as to members of the UAE Football Association and the organising committee of the 18th Gulf Cup championship.
And mind you, these are the minimum perks that the players are getting; there are a whole lot more coming from everywhere – sponsor, personal contribution, private sponsors and other sheikhs.
Now, you tell me what actually motivate us…
