Sex slave or foul slut

I bet you have heard of this in the past where Japanese government issued an official public apology to those who were forced into sexual slavery or their relatives during the WWII. We have also been hearing over the recent years, apologies have been repeatedly issued by the Japs on this issue, and some of them went with monetary compensation.

And just recently, the issue cropped out again, one woman rights activist out of Philippines denounced comments made by the Japan PM that there is no solid evidence Japanese soldiers forced woman into sexual slavery during WWII. Japanese PM’s remarks came in response to a recent US congressional resolution calling for Japan’s leader to “formally acknowledge, apologize and accept historical responsibility” for using thousands of Asian women as wartime sex slaves.

I am not sure what set off the US to come up with such resolution coz as far as I know; the issue has long been settled by the former Japanese PM. But the Japanese reacted on the resolution with a bit of extra remark saying that they have made numerous apologies and compensations, and added that the truth was they didn’t even know whether there was an element of coerce in this issue.

Well, I tend to agree with that extra remark on top of the normal apology made by the Jap government. Fact is nobody actually knows what was going on during the war. Woman right activists out there just need to be reminded that not all victims are indeed genuine victims. I am sure there were sluts and whores too during those days.

Don’t get me wrong here, I am all for the apology and shits. Japan has made the obligatory apology and appropriate compensations and that should’ve settled the whole issue. But if these bunch of activists are pushing their luck way to hard, there is a valid argument for the Japs to get a bit annoyed to utter that there was actually no evidence to suggest woman were actually forced into having sex with the Japs.

Truth is, prostitution is a war-proof and recession-proof profession (and also the oldest profession in history), and during the war (heck you can see..even until now), there were just so many brothels ran by individuals in countries like Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia and Burma.
